THE PRINCIPLE OF PROGRESSIVELY PERMANENT HAIR REMOVALTM So as to obtain long-term results, it is essential to destroy the very structure of the hair and its source of nourishment and growth: the hair follicle. For this, the intense light beam penetrates the surface skin layers and is absorbed by the melanin contained in the hair and particularly in the hair bulb, the storage reservoir for melanin. This absorption causes temperature to rise significantly which is immediately transmitted to the hair follicle, bringing about selective destruction. Once entirely destroyed, the follicle is unable to regenerate any hair. If it is simply damaged by the action of the light, a much finer hair would regrow in place of the former hair and this can be easily eliminated during regrowth cycles and subsequent treatment sessions.
